14 May 08 US to apply anti-dumping duties on light-walled rectangular pipe and tube
    The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has determined that a US industry is materially injured by reason of imports of light-walled rectangular pipe and tube from Turkey that the US Department of Commerce (DOC) has determined are sold in the United States at less than fair value. As a result of the ITC's affirmative determination, the DOC will issue an antidumping duty order on imports of this product from Turkey. News Release

14 May 08 India - continuation of anti-dumping duties on porcelain tiles recommended

07 May 08 US - preliminary dumping determination for thermal paper
    The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced its affirmative preliminary determinations in the antidumping duty investigations of imports of lightweight thermal paper (LWTP), commonly used for printed receipts, from the People’s Republic of China and Germany.  The DOC is scheduled to issue its final determinations in these investigations in September 2008.  Fact Sheet

06 May 08 US - ITC will expedite sunset review on silicon metal
    The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has voted to expedite its five- year ("sunset") review concerning the antidumping duty order on imports of silicon metal from Russia (Inv. No. 731-TA-991 (Review)).   As a result, the ITC will conduct an expedited review to determine whether revocation of the order concerning this product would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time.     The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has voted to conduct a full five- year ("sunset") review concerning the antidumping duty order on steel concrete reinforcing bar from Turkey (Inv. 05 May 08 Turkey extends anti-dumping duties on hinges and similar articles
    The Turkish Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade, through Communiqué 2008/18, concluded an anti-circumvention investigation on Chinese imports of hinges, base metal mountings, fittings and similar articles for furniture and hat-racks, hat-pegs, brackets and similar fixtures consigned through Chinese Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia. The anti-dumping duties in question are extended to products originating from and/or consigned through these countries. Five Taiwanese companies that were verified to be producers are exempted. Turkey had imposed anti-dumping duties ranging between 0.508 and 1.39 USD/kg. for the products in question in February 2004.  Communiqué (in Turkish). News item provided by ACT Istanbul

05 May 08 Argentina initiates anti-dumping investigation on zippers
    The Ministry of Economy of Argentina has published Resolution 120/2008 opening a dumping investigation on imports of nylon, injected plastic and bronze zippers (N.C.M. 9607.11.00, 9607.19.00 and 9607.20.00) from Peru, Taiwan and the People's Republic of China. Interested parties will be able to offer all evidence supporting their legal position within 45 business days as of the opening of the investigation. It is important to mention that, as China is considered to lack a free market economy or in the transition to achieve one, Brazil has been selected as the third free market economy country in order to determine the normal value of the product.  Resolution News item provided by Allende & Brea

05 May 08 Turkey extends anti-dumping duties on pocket lighters
    The Turkish Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade, through Communiqué 2008/17, concluded an anti-circumvention investigation on Chinese imports of gas fuelled, non refillable pocket lighters, gas fuelled, refillable pocket lighters with electrical ignition system and gas chambers of plastic for pocket lighters consigned through Vietnam. The anti-dumping duties in question are extended to products originating from and/or consigned through Vietnam. 05 May 08 Turkey to continue anti-dumping duties on pocket lighters
    The Turkish Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade, through Communiqué 2008/16, determined that revoking the existing anti-dumping duties on imports of gas fuelled, non refillable pocket lighters, gas fuelled, refillable pocket lighters with electrical ignition system and gas chambers of plastic for pocket lighters from China would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping and injury. While the anti-dumping duties of 0.05 USD/kg. for pocket lighters will remain in place unchanged the duty of 0.03 USD/kg. for gas chambers for pocket lighters is lowered to 0.02 USD/kg.  Communiqué (in Turkish).  News item provided by ACT Istanbul

    The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has determined that there is a reasonable indication that a US industry is materially injured by reason of imports of frontseating service valves from China that are allegedly sold in the United States at less than fair value.  As a result of the ITC's affirmative determination, the US Department of Commerce will continue to conduct its antidumping investigation of imports of frontseating service valves from China, with its preliminary determination due on or about August 26, 2008.  News Release

02 May 08 US - preliminary injury determination on HEDP
    The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has determined that there is a reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of imports of 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP) from China and India that are allegedly sold in the United States at less than fair value.
All six Commissioners voted in the affirmative.   As a result of the ITC's affirmative determinations, the US Department of Commerce will continue to conduct its antidumping investigations of imports of 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1- diphosphonic acid (HEDP) from China and India, with its preliminary determinations due on or about August 26, 2008.  News Release
